Basic knowledge :
- Holidays in the United States are divided into Federal Holidays ( similar to our public holidays ) and State Holidays ( each state's own holidays ). There are a lot of tourists during holidays , and hotel rooms are expensive and in high demand, so you should make reservations in advance or avoid these dates
. - During federal holidays, all non-essential government departments will be closed ( including the post office ) =
- If the date of a federal holiday falls on a Saturday, it will be moved forward to Friday. If it falls on a Sunday, it will be postponed to Monday. The purpose is to give everyone a continuous 3-day holiday.

K12 school holidays :
Christmas: Christmas lasts until the first week of January
Spring Break: One week in March/April, usually around Easter
Summer Break: A total of 10-11 weeks, from the end of May to the beginning of August, or from the beginning of June to the middle of August, or from the end of June to the beginning of September
Winter Break: One week in February or March

University holidays :
Christmas and Winter break: December 23 to the middle of January or the end of January
Srping Break: One week in March or April, usually after Easter or Patriots' Day
Summer Break: Labor Day from early May/late May to early September
